Helpful Tips!

Stuff for me, or anyone getting started to keep in mind, plus some random notes/facts! This will help me keep up with all ingredients/supplies I need!

*Use supplies that can be used in more than just soap! Oils and Beeswax are good for lotion bars, lip balms, etc..

*Use 1 oz of essential oil for every pound of soap.

*Orange essential oil is derived from the fruit, neroli from the flower blossoms and petitgrain from the leaves.

*Essential oils are 'vegan', but Fragrance oils can be blends of essential oils, or can be synthetic mixed with organic [essential oils vs fragrance oils] both can be just as harmful to the skin if not diluted or used properly!

*Rice bran oil is a wonderful cheaper alternative to olive oil.

*Fresh coffee grounds make a great exfoliator in soaps!

*Any milks, honey, fruit or veggie purees, etc should go in after the cook. Oils and butters added after the cook will not be saponified, so you get all of their benefits.
